The power of the pack: New rare cancer initiative hopes collaboration will lead to cures

With rare cancers, “there’s not enough money to be redundant,” says Christine O’Connell, who began fundraising after her 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer. That means collaboration is key. “If there’s a breakthrough and they’re telling somebody about it, and if there’s a risk and they’re sharing it right away, as a fundraiser that’s something I applaud.”
